The first two calf crops for his owners have established Bakers Northside as one of the rising stars of the Angus breed with 18 sons in the 2020 SydGen sale headlined by the $52,000 half interest top-seller of the entire event while the 20 daughters sold for an average of $9,030 included a $23,000 flush sister to the top-selling bull and the $28,000 and $16,000 top and second high-selling spring heifer calves.
A Northside son sold two thirds interest for $25,000 to top the 2020 Baker Angus sale while another was the $13,000 Lot 1 bull of the 2020 sale for Brinkley Angus Ranch that recorded the top adjusted weaning weight and top adjusted yearling weight of their fall 2018 calf crop.
In their 2019 sale, the first progeny of Northside sold at SydGen included the $14,000 half-interest second high-selling spring bull calf who has become a high fertility young sire for FB Genetics that produced the very first semen sorted in the new ORIgen-ST lab in the fall of 2020. Produced by a daughter of the ORIgen cornerstone sire that has produced and sold more units of semen than any other sire in the history of the program, Northside was the record-selling bull of the 64th Annual Baker Angus Farm sale in Missouri, a program that has been producing top performance fescue-tolerant Angus cattle for more than six decades. Jack Baker considers this high performer, produced as a heifer’s first calf, the greatest breeding achievement of his Angus career.
With a moderate actual birth weight of 78 pounds, a weaning ratio of 109, a yearling ratio of 113, a %IMF estimate of 6.61% for a ratio of 108 and an adjusted 365 ultrasound ribeye area measure of 17.7 square inches for an URE ratio of 105 with an adjusted scrotal circumference measure of 38.9 centimeters, this massive and impressive young sire exceled at every measurement point in the beef industry.
