In this promising sire, the famous Dai 7 Itozakura J65 and Monjiro J11550 sire lines come together to forge carcass-winning genetics and Itozakura, the namesake of the Itozakura “tsuru” strain of Wagyu cattle, is listed by Kenichi Ono as the second most important Wagyu liine of Japan that is widely known for frame size, weight gain and gentle nature with a marbling score that was unheard of at the time scoring three times higher than many of the top bulls of his era.
The famous author Kenichi Ono says Dai 7 Itozakura became known as the smartest economic investment among all Wagyu strains and his most famous son, Kitaguni 7-8, ranks third on Ono’s list.
The maternal grandsire of 2450Z, Monjiro J11550 ranked Number 7 on Ono’s list of best economic investments and Monjiro is best known outside Japan as the sire of both Michifuku and the grandsire of Sanjirou and at a year of age Monjiro won second prize and the Honorable Prize at the Zenkyo in Fukushima in 1982 and this son of Yasumi Doi J10328 born in Hyogo Prefecture was active for 12 years and produced over 400,000 straws of semen in his lifetime.
In the 2017 Lone Mountain Sire Performance Study, the sire of 2450Z, WKS Kitaguni Jr ranked third with an average of 31.71% IMF on 55 carcasses studied and with 13 images studied as sire of dams, Kitaguni Jr ranked Number 2 with 33.03% IMF and was Number 4 for Marble Fineness as both sire and sire of dams.
The dam of Mitsuru 2450Z is also the dam of LMR Ms Akahige 4200B, who recorded an 41.16% IMF and the primary job of a seedstock breeder is to produce bulls that are better than his parents and LMR Mitsuru 2450Z is proving to be that.
