LMR Shunichi 5339C is sired by WKS Sanjirou and out of LMR Ms Itoshigenami 9223W.
WKS Sanjirou is a linebred Yasumi Doi J10328 bull. Yasumi Doi, widely known for his ability to produce excellent meat quality, sired Yasutani Doi J472 and grandsired both Fukutsuru 068 and Yasufuku J930. Sanjirou is out of the prominent Japanese cow Suzutani, who represents one of the most potent bloodlines in Japan. Sanjirou has the potential to become one of the most influential sires of the Tajima line, having great meat quality, large ribeye area, thick rib and high yields. Suzutani’s dam, Suzunami, was sired by Shigeshigenami.
In the April 2017 Group BREEDPLAN Report, calculated using data from over 60,000 Wagyu Sires and Dams, and 4,711 FB Wagyu carcasses, Shunichi 5339C’s half-sib Sanjirou 4P ranks in the top 1% for Marbling Fineness (+0.38); in the top 5% for IMF% EPD (+1.0); and in the top 10% for Fullblood Terminal Index (+$230). 5339C’s sire, WKS Sanjirou, in the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, is ranked 4th highest Sire for IMF (30.15%) based on actual, imaged carcass data for 14 FB carcasses. An example of that marbling, another half-sib of 5339C, is shown at right (9304W).
5339C’s dam, 9223W, was sired by Itoshigenami TF148 and is thought to be one of the very best bulls exported from Japan. Itoshigenami TF148 was sired by Shigeshigenami – an elite sire of the Kumanami bloodline (key Tajima family). Shigeshigenami’s family has extremely potent marbling genes and he is widely known for significantly bolstering the quality of Wagyu in the Miyagi Prefecture. In fact, Kenichi Ono, author of Outstanding Wagyu in Japan, describes Shigeshigenami as the bull most representative of “meat-quality Wagyu.”
9223W has is ranked in the top 3% of the breed for both Marble Score EBV (+1.1) and FTI Index of $248.
5339C is another of the younger LMCC Bull Battery, assigned pedigree EBVs by BREEDPLAN ranking him in the top 2% for Ribeye EBV (+4.5) and in the top 5% for Marble Score (+0.9) of the Fullblood Wagyu herd (outside Japan).
