LMR Taisuke 401B was sired by LMR Koichi 1409Y and importantly, the result of a half-sib mating to BR Ms Yasufuku 0645.
LMR Taisuke 401B’s paternal great grandsire was Kitaguni 7の8. Kitaguni 7の8 was a significant Fujiyoshi/Shimane/Itozakura sire and perhaps the most famous son of Dai 7 Itozakura J65. Kitaguni 7の8 was considered by Kenichi Ono to be “the finest of all Kedaka cows”.
LMR Taisuke 401B is a grandson of WKS Kitaguni Jr – WKS Kitaguni Jr ranks in the top 1% of all sires tested by BREEDPLAN for Marble Score (EBV +1.4) and Birth Weight (EBV -2.7). In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, Kitaguni Jr ranks 4th for Marble Fineness as both Sire (30.16 based on 55 carcasses) and 4th as Dam Sire (29.66 based on 13 images studied) – and 2nd as Dam Sire for IMF (33.03%). He ranks 3rd as Sire for IMF (31.71%) – behind only his son (and sire of 401B), LMR Koichi 1409Y (33.25 based on 7 images) who makes his first appearance as 2nd highest ranked sire in this year’s study and WKS Yasufuku Jr. In addition, Koichi 1409Y ranks 2nd as Sire for Marble Fineness (31.56) – ahead of his father, Kitaguni Jr and LMR Yojimbo, behind only Yasufuku Jr.
Taisuke 401B’s sire (Koichi 1409Y) and his dam (LMR MS Itoshigefuji 0182) both share the same dam, BR Ms Yasufuku 0645 whose sire was Yasufuku Jr - a superb carcass sire imported from Japan and whose sire was Yasufuku J930, ranked #1 by Kenichi Ono in his well-researched tome, Outstanding Wagyu of Japan.
0645 has been one of Lone Mountain’s best performers - she has produced some of the ranch’s highest grading carcasses, including 8166U (50.2% IMF) and 8167U (39.1% IMF) both sired by Kitaguni Jr – and 9373W (36.77% IMF) sired by LMR Yojimbo 634S.
In the 2017 LMCC Study, referenced above, WKS Yasufuku Jr is the leading Sire for IMF (33.34%) with 35 carcasses imaged and data calculated by Dr. Kuchida’s software program. Yasufuku Jr is also the leading Dam Sire for both IMF (34.11%) and Marble Fineness (32.48) based on 35 carcasses.
401B’s half sib 4292B (shown) confirms the influence that these founding genetics have on the breed.
LMR Taisuke 401B is a well-balanced bull that we fully expect to pass on brilliant marbling inherited from both his parents. As the Japanese breeders have shown in the past, half-sib matings reap great rewards when the risks are well mitigated.
