History
In 2001, some of the industry’s most
progressive seedstock producers came together to discuss
the challenges, changes and the future of the beef
genetic industry. Industry consolidation was a clear
trend and a reality on all sectors of the beef industry
causing a concern for the future independence and
sustainability of the genetic production sector.
Seedstock producers such as Debruycker Charolais,
Edwards Angus Ranch, Express Ranches, Gardiner Angus
Ranch, Leachman Cattle Company, Sitz Angus Ranch,
Stevenson Basin Angus, Summitcrest Farms, Sydenstricker
Angus Farm and Three Trees Ranch were only some of the
few operations that came together to contribute ideas on
how to ensure the future success of the independent
seedstock producer. Over time the ORIgen Model spawned
its core foundational values to create a company that
assists in genetic value creation and capture, solely to
benefit the industry and ultimately the “ORIgenal”
genetic producer, to ensure their sustainable success
and independence. Of the many seedstock producers
involved, it was due to the leadership and dedication of
the ORIgen founders who took the risk of carrying
through the vision of opening doors and creating
opportunities for all seedstock producers to present and
implement their genetics to the world. ORIgen’s start-up
has been full of challenging proportions. However its
course for breeder success has yet to waver due to the
determination of its founders’ belief that the ORIgen
Model will achieve and sustain breeder/producer success
into the future.
