Congratulations to our ORIgen partner Express Ranches on a new record sale today for EXAR Denver 2002B, the lead bull of the Grand Champion Carload of Bulls at the 2013 National Western who sold one third semen interest for $340,000 for a record total valuation of $1,020,000 for a yearling Angus bull.
Bred to break records, EXAR Denver is one of the very first calves born by the record-setting ORIgen sire, EXAR Upshot 0562B, the lead bull of the Grand Champion Carload of Bulls at the 2011 National Western Stock Show that set a record valuation at Express in 2011 when half interest of him sold for $200,000. The dam of EXAR Denver is a daughter of the Express featured ORIgen sire EXAR 263C that set the record broken by EXAR Upshot when two-thirds interest of him sold for $263,000 in 2006.
Combining a $B index, $W index, WEPD, YEPD and CW EPD among the top 1% of the population with a CED EPD among the top 2% and a Marbling EPD and RE EPD among the top 3%, as a natural calf, EXAR Denver combined a 76 pound birth weight with an adjusted 205 day weight of 930 pounds and an adjusted 365 day weight of 1,592 pounds, recording a yearling scrotal measure of 40 centimeters with an adjusted URE measure of 18.5 square inches and an adjusted IMF measure of 6.11%.
The record sale of EXAR Denver was the highlight of a record-setting week in the beef industry that also saw the lead bull of the Grand Champion Pen of Three Hereford Bulls at the 2013 National Western sell 75% interest for $600,000 to set a new Hereford record valuation of $800,000 for a yearling bull.
